Letter From The President

Annual Meeting of the American College of Surgeons Kentucky Chapter - September 6, 2024
Dear Kentucky Fellows of the American College of Surgeons,
It is with great pleasure and anticipation that I address you as the President of the American College of Surgeons Kentucky Chapter. Your steadfast commitment to our organization is truly appreciated, and I am excited to embark on this journey alongside each and every one of you.
Reflecting on the success of our last gathering at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, I am thrilled to announce our upcoming Annual Meeting, scheduled for September 6, 2024, at the Campbell House in Lexington. Our new venue promises to provide ample space and comfort, complemented by an array of delectable refreshments and state-of-the-art audiovisual facilities.
The agenda for this year's meeting is brimming with promise. We have secured distinguished speakers, including a special guest from the Board of Regents of the American College of Surgeons, who will enrich our discussions with their insights. Additionally, we have curated panel discussions covering a spectrum of pertinent topics, ranging from rural surgery to administrative challenges, and strategies for implementing novel procedures and devices in hospital settings, such as robotics. Updates from the College in advocacy, COT, and COC will also be highlighted.
One of the highlights of our meeting will undoubtedly be the ever-popular challenging case presentations, where members will have the opportunity to share compelling cases from their practices and engage in interactive Q&A sessions with fellow attendees. If you wish to participate, please contact me at mlbrohez@gmail.com by August 1.
Furthermore, I urge those involved in mentoring residents and medical students to encourage their submission of abstracts for the resident paper competition. This platform not only fosters academic excellence but also offers cash prizes and opportunities for national recognition in various categories, including trauma and oncology. Abstracts should be submitted to Dr. Alexis Nickols at alexis.nickols@uky.edu by August 1.
As we continue our endeavors to uphold the standards of excellence in surgical practice, I invite you to renew your membership or consider joining the Kentucky Chapter. Your support ensures the sustainability and growth of our professional community. Membership dues in the amount of $125 may be mailed or paid online at https://www.kentuckyfacs.org/membership. Should you have any concerns, suggestions, or queries, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the future of our Chapter.
Sincerely,
Murielle L. Brohez, MD, FACS
